When Your Partner Cheats: Financial Infidelity in Committed Couples

The present study evaluated the affective, behavioral, and cognitive responses of 203 participants who were queried about their romantic partners’ potential financial infidelity as well own. Results analyzed through lens ABC model (affect, behavior, cognition) indicated that would be much more upset less accepting if partner: filed for bankruptcy without partner’s knowledge, gambled away money telling partner, lied to cover up a debt, kept secret account, took out savings consulting spent on pornographic material partners, hid credit card statements, or raise bonus secret. Further, only behavior elicited willingness leave relationship was filing informing partner. Clinical implications future research directions are also discussed.
